VIACOM TELEVISION STATIONS DIGITAL MEDIA GROUP PARTNERS WITH STUDIO ONE NETWORKS TO BRING FAMILY FRIENDLY PROGRAMMING TO ITS CBS STATION WEBSITES
Original Lifestyle Content Among New Features As Part of Viacom's "Always On" Digital Media Initiative
Previous Launches in Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, Denver, San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore and New York Already Featuring Studio One's Customized Content
The Viacom Television Stations Digital Media Group has partnered with Studio One Networks to bring original broadband video content to its newly designed CBS station websites as part of the previously announced "Always On" digital media initiative. Studio One, the leading creator and syndicator of original content on the internet, provides award winning family friendly programming to each of the Viacom Television Station's websites.
Visitors to each of the newly designed and re-launched websites will now have access to the entertainment feature on the local station's homepage customized for that particular market. Viewers will have the choice to view several programs that were developed exclusively for internet viewers, including Real Families, Real Fun, Your Baby Today, Right at Home Daily, Screenager Central, Digital Living Today, CIO Strategy Center, Real Small Business, Driving Today, Your Look, Your Life, The Dog Daily and The Daily Cat. By combining this content along with each television station's video reports, viewers in each of the CBS local station markets now have access to an interactive lifestyle portal.
"The carriage of our programs by the Viacom Television Stations Group is high praise indeed," said Andrew Susman, CEO, Studio One. "These stations are leaders in their markets and known in the industry for innovation and quality. We're delighted with this partnership."
"The combination of our local station's video content with Studio One's original programming will provide a versatile news and information portal for our users," said Jonathan Leess, President and General Manager, Viacom Television Stations Digital Media Group. "The assortment of interactivity that we will be able to provide with this partnership will appeal to all of our users, from new mothers to teenagers, pet lovers to style fanatics."
The group plans to re-launch websites for all of its CBS stations, including kyw.com (Philadelphia) and cbs4boston.com (Boston) in September. The station websites in Salt Lake City (kutv.com), Minneapolis (wcco.com), Denver (cbs4denver.com), San Francisco (cbs5.com), Chicago (cbs2chicago.com), Baltimore (wjz.com), and most recently, New York (cbsnewyork.com) have already launched. In total, 17 CBS stations will re-launch their websites in 2005, followed by UPN stations in 2006.
