First Internet Syndicated Program Series Sponsorship in Consumer Packaged Goods Industry
New York (November 29, 1999) Studio One Networks and its sponsor Nestlé Carnation Baby Formulas will produce and distribute the first series of syndicated Internet programs in the packaged goods industry.
Studio One Networks will release Your Baby Today (available for preview at www.yourbabytoday.com) for 26 consecutive weeks to a selected group of parenting cannels on major search engines and Internet Service Providers, as well as a variet of other family and new mother outlets, immediately following its launch.
For Your Baby Today, Studio One Networks has commissioned a blue-ribbon panel of nationally-known experts, including two hosts - Dr. Lillian Beard and Dr. Peter Shelov. Dr. Beard, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a practicing and an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. Dr. Shelov is the editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatrics' series Caring for Your Baby, and is chairman of pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in New York.
Packaged goods advertisers have long sought more effective ways of capturing audiences online. NFO Interactive for Jupiter Communications reported that 70% of users would find advertising more acceptable if in-depth information was provided simultaneously. In addition, a recent study by Forrester Research concluded that spending on "experimental marketing," including online advertising will grow from $1.1 billion this year to $11.2 billion in the next four years.
"Nestlé Carnation Baby Formulas is dedicated to supporting new families, particularly new mothers, during pregnancy and baby's first year," said Rochelle Brown, director of corporate communications for Nestlé, USA. "The Internet is a very popular source of information for parents. New moms will now find the resources that they rely on Nestlé for, such as The Very Best Baby Magazine, on the Internet as well."
"This syndicated programming is the first of its kind in the packaged goods arena. As with the early days of television, the emergence of Internet syndication will revolutionize audience delivery," said Bob Blackmore, chairman of Studio One Networks and former executive vice president of the NBC Television Network and chairman of the America Advertising Federation.
"There are three beneficiaries here: the outlets and networks, who win by retaining audience with high quality content: the sponsor, who wins by receiving an 'ideal environment' which is credible and clutter free: and most importantly, the new parents who receive the information they want and need," said Andrew Susman, CEO of Studio One Networks.
